Jessica Springsteen is the second child and the only daughter of musicians Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa. The 73-year-old Bruce Springsteen is an American singer and songwriter who has released 21 studio albums with his rock band, Bruce E Street Band. Nicknamed ‘The Boss’, he is recognized globally for his mainstream rock music, socially conscious poetic lyrics, and energetic concerts. Interestingly, the Boss sold more than 71 million records in the U.S. and over 140 million records across the continents. Thus, he is deemed one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
The 69-year-old Patti Scialfa is also an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. She has been the lead guitarist of the E Street Band since 1984. Besides her profession as a musician, Scialfa also is a staunch horseback rider, who enjoys pursuing equitation as a hobby. Nonetheless, her interest in horsemanship became an opening gambit for her daughter. Thus, following in the footsteps of her mother, Jessica kick-started her career in equitation.
While Jessica Springsteen has chosen a disparate path from that of her parents, the music icons have always shown their support to back their daughter in her endeavors. From hailing for their daughter in every competition to expressing their heartfelt praises, the equestrian’s parents have covered it all.
Springsteen’s parents’ reaction to her selection to the Tokyo Olympics team
Though Jessica Springsteen was already featured as an alternate in the 2012 London Olympics, she never got to chase the adrenaline rush of competing in the reverent arena. However, in 2019, Springsteen made a splash among her fans after revealing the news of her participation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As she made it to the U.S. equestrian team, Jessica Springsteen’s parents went above and beyond to express their elation. Describing her parents’ reaction to the news of her participation, Jessica told Today News, “Oh my gosh, they were so excited”.
She further added, “I mean, they’ve supported me since I was little, and this has been, you know, a huge dream of mine ever since I can remember. And the sport has become such a passion for them, as well. So, we’ve, I feel like, been on this journey together. So, they were so proud of me and so happy”.
Springsteen’s father congratulated her and the equestrian team on their Olympic medal
