Months After Changing Father Bill Gates’s Outlook on His $133 Billion Fortune, Jennifer Gates Shares Her Mother’s Important Stance on Women

An equestrian with an education in the medical field, Jennifer Gates has received complete support from her parents throughout her life to pursue her passion. At 27 years of age, Jennifer Gates is now looking to give it back to her parents by supporting them in their many philanthropic endeavors, and in that way, giving it back to society. The eldest child of Bill and Melinda Gates, Jennifer Gates is married to fellow equestrian Nayel Nassar. She was also recently blessed with a daughter. The birth of her daughter is what made Bill Gates change his outlook on his fortune in the first place. Now, she is helping her mother achieve the goal of giving more power to women in the workplace.

Melinda Gates recently gave an interview with TIME magazine where she talked about the importance of having more women in higher-up positions in the workplace. After she shared the same on her Instagram account, her daughter gave her a shout-out as well in her stories.

Jennifer Gates is in line with her mother’s values and beliefs

Jennifer Gates recently took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Important and Insightful read. @melindafrenchgates giving voice and funding”. Attached alongside was a link to the TIME article that Melinda Gates shared on her Instagram post. Melinda Gates wrote there, “Having women at all levels of government will make government work better — and there’s a realistic path to getting there”.

In the TIME op-ed piece, Melinda Gates doesn’t just talk about elevating women into “public offices”, but also transforming the government structure into a more “representative” outlook. At the moment, 25-30% of the US Congress is occupied by women, which in itself is an all-time record. But Gates believes that to truly transform, the numbers have to go further upwards.

At the very beginning of her piece, Melinda Gates said, “That idea—that women deserve a role in making decisions, controlling resources, and shaping policies and perspectives—is at the center of my work as an advocate for women and girls”. As a proud daughter and supporter of almost every noble cause, Jennifer Gates couldn’t let this slip without spreading it into the world.

What made Melinda Gates actively pursue her efforts toward more female representation

Melinda Gates has done a lot of philanthropic and empowerment work over the years alongside her former husband Bill Gates via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Ever since their split, she has handled the mantle of women empowerment, especially in the political spectrum, largely on her own. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade exactly a year ago, made Gates realize that they “still live in a country where decisions are made for women instead of by them”.

This fueled her, even more, to actively pursue this noble cause. Her daughter is her confidante and biggest cheerleader, who stands by her in any such cause. From changing her father’s outlook towards wealth to supporting a non-profit organization called Thinking Huts to raise awareness about New York pollution to spread her mother’s noble work far and wide, Jennifer Gates truly wishes to see this world transform into a better place.
