A former baseball player, Kirk Godby, is pinning his hopes on a horse from his own venture, Don’t Tell My Wife stables. Making his horse compete in the Derby for the third time, Godby is banking on this 3-year-old colt purchased for $25,000 to win the Kentucky Derby.

Relating insights about his horse riding journey, Godby opened up on his horse which will give tough competition in the Kentucky Derby. Describing the 3-year colt as the most well-bred horse he had purchased, Godby praised the horse’s intelligence. According to a report by Star-Telegram, the odds that this horse would win is 30-1. In Kentucky Derby 2023, Godby is making his horse Confidence Game compete and strongly believes he can win the race. Speaking about Confidence Game, Godby expressed, “He’s probably the most well-bred horse we’ve ever brought.” Interestingly, this horse was also the winner of the $1 million Rebel Stakes held at Oaklaw Park, making him one of the front runners for the Kentucky Derby.

Afterward, Godby also praised Confidence Game’s intelligence. “He was always going forward, he was smart”, Godby spoke. Later, Godby shared about his horse riding journey, which began when his father acquainted him with horse racing in high school, and he gradually developed a strong passion for it. “I just fell in love with it”, Godby described, hinting at how he strongly liked the energy, beauty, and competitive nature of the sport. Later, Godby made his horses Exaggerator and My Boy Jack Compete in the Kentucky Derby, where Exaggerator secured second place, and My Boy Jack secured fifth place. At present, Godby’s best bet to win the Kentucky Derby is Confidence Game.

However, Confidence Game is not the only top contender for the Kentucky Derby. Another horse, expected to give stiff competition in the Kentucky Derby 2023, recently made a majestic entry at Churchill Downs.

The fan-favorite horse Forte finally showed up at Churchill Downs at 4 am on Monday, 17th April. This news made headlines due to Forte’s incredible abilities which have increased many fans’ expectations that he will win the Kentucky Derby. Forte has won various equestrian contests like the Florida Derby (G1) and the Breeders Cup Juvenile (G1). In the Kentucky Derby, Forte will be ridden by one of the best and most experienced jockeys in New York.

Irad Ortiz Jr. will be the rider who will gallop on Forte in the upcoming Kentucky Derby. One of the top jockeys who has competed in the Kentucky Derby more than three times, Ortiz is yet to win the Derby and hopes to gain victory this year.
