Talking about the race without bringing up star horse racer Piggy March and her mare Vanir Kamira is impossible. In the recent Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, Vanir almost scared her partner when she didn’t respond.
That was scary for Piggy March
The equestrian sportswoman and her obedient compeer Vanir Kamira have shown their perfect partnership multiple times. She started working with the mare in 2017 and won the 2019 Badminton Horse Trials. Apart from this, their cooperation also brought in several other remarkable achievements.
The 17-year-old recently participated with her rider in the Burghley Horse Trials and almost frightened Piggy when she stopped responding to the indications and signals.

“I lost a bit of time on the long gallops at beginning – she coasts along quite off the bridle, I was nudging her a bit and she didn’t really respond, so I thought she needed a bit of time,” said the elite rider. “But she came home brilliant, full of running.”
They secured second place, just 0.1 mark behind first place holders Sarah Bullimore and Corouet. The 60th anniversary of the contest went extremely well, with numerous horse riders acing the race and raising the bars.
Words of appreciation from Piggy
Sometimes things might go the wrong way in contests and races. Notably, something similar would have happened if Vanir wouldn’t put in the best version of herself at the end. It was an unachievable comeback and helped Piggy rank second on the leaderboard.
