He took to Instagram and shared a post of the festival with the caption, “5000 people in the pouring rain. Thank you to every pizza place who participated. Thank you to every fan who showed up. Despite the weather this lived up to the billing as the greatest pizza event of all time. Pizza is love.” Furthermore, he called out his critics and added, “And for all those who hate me….I just kicked your a** again.” 

After the staunch success of the event, he flooded his social media handles with content from the festival. This recent controversy went into the favor of Barstool CEO as crowds of people carrying umbrellas began arriving at the event, and it was already packed by noon, despite the persistent rain in the area. Now the question arises how it all started.

The beginning of the controversy

It started when Dave Portnoy made the announcement of the festival, and a member of the media house reached out to the pizzeria owners about their collaboration and support for Portnoy in spite of his being a controversial figure. As per the speculations, it was an attempt to malign his image. It was also reported to be done to impact all the establishments looking forward to a successful business day at this festival.
