As reported by Paulick Report, Legendary US jockey Corey Nakatani, who announced his formal retirement in 2018, is finally getting inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame. After falling short in the voting for so many years, the 52-year-old jockey will finally be inducted this Friday at Saratoga Springs in New York.

Sharing his joy about the big news, Nakatani stated, “I just think it’s amazing.” He further added, “Where I started, the guys I learned to ride from, the guys I was competing against. As you know they’re all Hall of Famers. To do as well as I did, obviously you have to put in the three ‘D’s’: determination, desire, and don’t take no for an answer.”

Nakatani hails from Southern California; he has his roots in Japan, and interestingly, he was a champion wrestler during his high school days. According to him, he broke his nose during a wrestling match and went to the hospital to get it treated. Coming back from the hospital, his father took him to Santa Anita to bet on the horses. That was the day that germinated his curiosity and love for horses. Then he went to the World Jockey Association to learn more about the horses. His affection for the horses just kept getting better with time, and thus, he started working at a horse farm.
