Equestrian therapy has become a new way to heal mental and physical trauma in recent times. The involvement of horses makes it so alluring, and the bond that the rider builds with them offers a sense of serene companionship. Not many days have passed since a Michigan-based equestrian center was in the headlines for providing equestrian therapy to children and adults to overcome mental trauma.
Along similar lines, a new ranch called Carousel Ranch is in the news for providing similar equestrian healing sessions. In a recent conversation, the instructor of the ranch revealed some inside secrets about their unique way of healing individuals.

As per reports in The Signal, Carousel Ranch organizes an event annually called Heart of the West. In this event, there are segments like entertainment, dinner, and auctions. The main purpose of this event is to raise funds for Carousel Ranch’s equestrian therapy.
With the help of these funds, they provide healing sessions to children like Wyatt Hickerson, who was born with micro preemie (an infant born in the 26th week of pregnancy, weighing less than 1.75 pounds), and he was also diagnosed with a borderline intellectual disability and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder as well.
On Saturday, many children, like Wyatt Hickerson, got the chance to experience the allure of horseback riding.
The initiative was called “On the back of a horse, a child’s disability is invisible. The funds that the ranch raises during the event help provide financial stability to the center and ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.
Stefanie Vine, an instructor at the Carousel Ranch, said, “Every year I feel like, even after 10 years, I’m still so surprised that people really love what we do and believe in what we do. I mean, I obviously believe in what we do, but to see all these strangers and all these people just cheering us on and really loving on these kids is something special.” She also added that it brings half of their operating budget per year, is important for the organization, and also contributes to what the organization is doing for the kids.
Further updates on the event
With their high aims to provide healing to the children and youngsters, the organization is doing really well. Last year, they raised approximately $500,000 during the event and are hoping for the same this year as well.
