The acclaimed trainer has already won the Indiana Derby once in 2020, with Shared Sense. This time he will go with Verifying, who only has two wins under his belt. The son of Justify, a 2018 Triple Crown Winner, is all set to impress the audience with his speed on Saturday. In his debut race last year, Verifying secured the pole position.
Apart from his two career wins, Verifying has had his fair share of brushes with the pole position. During last year’s Champagne, he finished a strong second. In this year’s Blue Grass event, the son of Justify again came second behind Tapit Trice. According to a report in Horse Racing Nation, Cox confirmed that “He’s doing really well.”
Verifying was acquired for a whopping $775,000 by the international Coolmore racing and breeding conglomerate. Brad Cox acknowledged that Verifying is showing great promise with his running. He further added, “His Derby was a throw-out with the pace, going too quick too early. But he’s a nice horse, he’s doing well physically, looks amazing.” The Indiana Derby will prove to be a showdown event wherein Cox and Verifying will be pitted against formidable opponents.
Brad Cox has been in the game for a while now. Over a glorious career spanning a decade, he has left a huge imprint on the sport.
