The Melbourne Cup started with a bang. With Several horses in contention, Vauban was deemed the favorite. However, just before the race, the Irish horse slipped to $6, and rightly so. In an enthralling display of speed and zeal, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Without a Fight galloped with a stunning victory.

The horse racing world witnessed crazy scenes as the Melbourne Cup started. Initially, a few places back, Without a Fight quickly sprinted up, taking a good lead. However, he wasn’t satisfied with that and continued speeding up. Without a Fight looked absolutely breathless, giving no chance to his competitors. Before any of the other horses could catch him, the race had ended as Without a Fight won the race without any fight from his competitors.
It’s a remarkable comeback for Without a Fight after finishing 13th in his debut race last year. The Melbourne Cup is often called ‘the race that stops a nation’ and winning it by two lengths is truly a remarkable achievement. With this victory, Without a Fight also put another feather under his cap, breaking a 2-decade old record.

With this dominant victory, he has also recorded himself in the history books. Without a Fight became the first horse since 2001 to win the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup in the same year. Ethereal was the last horse to do this in 2001. Without a Fight also became one of the only five horses to win the double cups.
