The October 2023 season is gaining a lot of fanfare and popularity among equestrian fans. A month where horse enthusiasts cheered out loud for a thoroughbred breed who showcased his exceptional skills both on & off the racetrack. The Thoroughbred Makeover showdown is the biggest evidence of it.
Additionally, it featured a lineup of some of the most distinguished horses in the competition’s history. Among them, Grade 1 winner Arklow embodied the classic thoroughbred type, reminiscent of iconic foxhunting paintings. The competition reached its pinnacle when another 4-year-old clinched triumph. Knockemdown, an unraced 4-year-old son of American Pharoah, clinched the overall victory under the expert guidance of Alison O’Dwyer. She found herself in familiar territory at the Retired Racehorse Project?s Thoroughbred Makeover, having clinched the dressage division championship thrice before. A few days ago, a video on YouTube with the title, “The Winning Ride: Alison O’Dwyer and Knockemdown” made headlines with horse determination, chutzpah and patience. Take a look.

A week later, Smokeonthehorizon, a 4-year-old son of Mizzen Mast, transitioned from winning Eventing at the Makeover to becoming the highest-finishing thoroughbred at the United States Eventing Association Young Event Horse East Coast 4-Year-Old Championships. The thoroughbred’s capabilities were further highlighted at the Maryland 5 Star, where the cross-country course served as a litmus test for their development over the years.
Three thoroughbreds?Phelps, Artist, and Sorocaima?secured places in the top 10, showcasing the breed’s versatility and strength. While the Makeover and Young Event Horse competitions unveiled the tshoroughbred’s rapid adaptability post-racing, the Maryland 5 Star underscored their enduring qualities when nurtured at the highest level of the sport.
On the racetrack, dreams unfold as well as reach fruition?
The accolades honored individuals, including grooms and industry personnel, integral to the heartbeat of horse racing. Now, on the racetrack, Liberty Island etched her name in history by winning the Shuka Sho. Being the 7th filly to secure Japan’s Triple Crown for fillies, Jockey Yuga Kuwada shared, ?Her dreams for the future are wide open,? capturing the essence of horse racing.

It is like a dream come true for equestrian fans. Ace Impact bid farewell to an undefeated career with a triumphant victory at the Arc de Triomphe in France. It symbolizes the realization of dreams within the realm of horse racing.
