The 11-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, Torveslettens Titanium RS2, has been making waves and clinching accolades in the equestrian ring ever since he started competing in dressage events. Nonetheless, with his Dutch Jockey, Marieke van der Putten, Torveslettens collected six international Grand Prix-level victories. However, in the recent Grand Prix event at Omaha, the 11-year-old suffered a colic scare, in the wake of which he had to withdraw from the upcoming competitions.
On 5th April, Titanium finished eighth in the Grand Prix World Cup Dressage final in Omaha with a score of 70.78%. Two days later, the 11-year-old withdrew from the freestyling event of the FEI World Cup final after showing mild colic symptoms. Nonetheless, following his emergency surgery, Putten shared Tito’s health updates with her fans.

As per the report of Horse & Hound, Putten, and her team tried to comfort Tito right before the commencement of the Freestyle circuit. However, their efforts went in vain, and they had to bring the 11-year-old to a clinic at Iowa State University Large Animal Hospital. Explaining the gelding’s agony before the freestyle event, Putten stated, “What started like a dream ended up like a nightmare.”
However, the equestrian’s team helped Tito to get the treatment right on time, and he was transported to the clinic and underwent surgery. Expressing her gratitude, Putten added, “Luckily everyone helped us, [the team were] amazing at the showground and everything was arranged in a split second so we could bring him to Iowa…A big thank you to everyone who helped us. We appreciated it a lot”.
Following his treatment, the gelding is “doing fine now”, said Putten. She further conceded, “Nothing is more important than for him being healthy and happy. Of course he has a long way to go but ‘Tito’ is the biggest little pretty fighter on this planet, so I am sure he will be back strong and healthy as ever”.
