Christian Simonson rode Son of a Lady, Anna Marek rode Fire Fly, and Codi Harrison rode Katholt’s Bossco as their partners. Sarah had the highest score of the four at 76.872 percent, followed by Christian (74.971), Marek (74.489), and Harrison (71.957). Christian Simonson writes that this year’s races will always stand out in his mind. Participating at the Pan American Games, he says, was like seeing a childhood dream come true.
He goes on to emphasize the importance of the outstanding equine team and the ever-ready backup crew. The USEF workers, who he says helped make the trip go off without a hitch, also get his gratitude. Amazing crowd support allowed him to keep his eye on the prize. He also appreciates his parents’ help and thanks them for it. After the United States took home gold, silver went to Brazil, and bronze to Canada.
Brazil and Canada’s tenacity
The Brazillian team came in second place, behind the winning American team, with a total of 443.343 points. Marcari’s 78.362 percentage put him in second place individually, and he was a big contributor to the Brazilian team. Despite Brazil’s second-place finish, Canada’s performance was impressive enough to convince some observers that they may have also won.
