Trainer Eric Kruljac has hinted that ‘The Chosen Vron’ may be shifting to the Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) by month-end. Kruljac has worked with the horse and trained it for the California-bred stakes. The gelding has surprised Kruljac with its impressive performance and potential. He believes ‘The Chosen Vron’ to be a special horse that has the ability to compete against top-level competition.

The five-year-old horse has already proven its mettle with seven victories in a year. Interestingly, the horse won its latest Cal-bred stakes at Santa Anita Park on May 28. ‘The Chosen Vron’ entered Thor’s Echo Stakes and emerged victorious once again, showcasing its consistency and talent. Kruljac is now setting his sights on even bigger races, confident that ‘The Chosen Vron’ has what it takes to excel at the highest level of competition.

‘The Chosen Vron’ took part in many graded races in 2021 and won them all. The young gelding even defied all limitations of its inexperience by beating champion horses such as Laurel River and Defunded. It defeated the former in the Lazaro Barrera Stakes (G3) and the latter in the Affirmed Stakes (G3). Bob Baffert has trained both Laurel River and Defunded. Defunded will be participating in the San Diego Handicap race, where it can have an easy win in the absence of ‘The Chosen Vron’. The Chosen Vron will run in the Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar on the day.

After ‘The Chosen Vron’s’ iconic seventh victory, Kruljac spoke to reporters to reveal his plans for the horse. As per BloodHorse.com, Kruljac said, “I think running him at Del Mar, if I have six to eight weeks between races, we’ve got to try him one time”. Kruljac has been patient with all his horses, especially The Chosen Vron. In return, the horse brought him the 2021 Cal-bred 3-year-old male trophy and the 2022 Champion Cal-bred older male and turf horse trophy. The horse will be reunited with its rider Hector Berrios for the Bing Crosby Stakes. But the challenge won’t be an easy one because they are slated to compete against some of the top sprinters in the country.

‘The Chosen Vron’ faces stiff competition

This will be the horse’s biggest race so far. It will also give it an opportunity to win a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). But first, The Chosen Vron will have to prove itself against formidable opponents in the Bing Crosby Stakes. Its biggest foe is last year’s Bing Crosby winner, American Theorem. American Theorem has won the Bing Crosby twice in a row, but lately, it has been struggling to maintain its streak. Next on the challenger’s path is the Spirit of Makena, who has the same trainer as American Theorem. Dr. Schivel, the 2021 Crosby winner, will also try for the top rank in the race.

Besides these three champions, The Chosen Vron must also look out for Hoist the Gold, C Z Rocket, and Anarchist, who have all shown strong performances in recent races. With such a talented field of horses vying for victory, the race will be an exhilarating and closely contested battle from start to finish.
