Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) is one of the coveted show-jumping events in equestrian sports. Teams, contests, various stops, and long-running thrill overtake enthusiasts and serve every element of adrenaline rush to the spectators. Joining in on the final celebrations of the 5* event 2023 season were Bill Gates’ daughter Jennifer Gates and her husband Nayel Nassar. With the final showdown, however, the two hold rather more to cheer to.
Jenn and Nayel have always been each other’s support. Parenthood, equestrian sport, or new ventures, they have walked the paths together. On the same note, on 9th December, the Egyptian equestrian Nayel Nassar proved his standing in the community with yet another feat. And as he stood atop the podium, Jennifer Gates ensured her presence to cheer on the victor.

On the 8th of December, Jennifer Gates took to her Instagram stories to share a celebratory post for Nayel and his equine companion. “Winners,” she wrote adding a little red heart and a gold medal. In the background, the 14-year-old gelding, Coronado stood in his equipment sniffing the colorful bouquet that Jenn held. Coronado, who joined the Evergate Stables team in 2021, is often the equine partner accompanying Nayel in his contests.
‘He has a beautiful stride, he lies down to the ground so well that it never really feels like you are going flat out. But he just eats up the ground, he turns extremely well, and tonight was his night,” Nassar said in an interview after clinching the victory. The duo bested the final leg of the MLSJ Grand Prix, to add a massive prize purse and another title to their names.

The MLSJ was held across 3 countries and 10 venues to find the ultimate team and the individual champion for the 2023 season. Traveling through Mexico, Canada, and the USA, the finals landed at the Desert International Horse Park, Thermal, California. Nayel Nassar, no stranger to the West Coast, earned his victory on the familiar grounds with 79.83 on the board. Behind by 1.73 seconds, Canadian equestrian, Amy Millar clinched the second spot.

“I went to school on the West Coast and I rode here a lot. I won the million-dollar Grand Prix when they were out here. The beginning of my professional career started at this horse park. Winning is the best confidence booster. So I am looking forward to a good class team tomorrow… I am excited,” Nassar added. After adding $221,700 to his account, Bill Gates’ son-in-law will look for another win on the 9th with his team Trelawny Trailblazers, who currently lead the standings with 124 Points.
