The tech sphere has often witnessed tech giants and billionaires go head-to-head in terms of innovation and development. Both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, have strived to bring something new to the table all the time. Today, the stage is all set for their daughters to lock horns with each other. While both the heiresses shared a rivalry, the turf was different from their fathers’ playing field.

Jennifer Gates and Eve Jobs grew up with many similarities. Apart from the exposure to constant public attention, the young women also went to Stanford University for further studies. However, they found their common ground in the horse-riding arena. Both Gates and Jobs are highly skilled equestrians, having showcased their prowess at various events. Let’s take a look at their history.

Jennifer Gates’ equestrian background

Jennifer had been passionate about horses since she was 6 years old. After convincing her parents, Bill and Melinda French Gates, the heiress picked up horse-riding lessons from a local barn. That’s where her love for the competitive side of the sport bloomed. Although she never expected it back then, her fun childhood hobby turned into a serious career option over the years. After a lot of convincing, the billionaire couple relented and provided the best resources for their daughter to keep training.

When Jennifer was 15 years old and wanted to participate in the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida, her daddy dearest splurged over $1 million, and rented a 7,300 sq ft, eight-bedroom mansion. This mansion was like no other – with well-built stables and top-class facilities for horse riding, it was an equestrian’s dream. And Jennifer immediately got to training with the leased horses and dedicated trainers.

Currently, the eldest daughter of Bill Gates is happily married to fellow equestrian Nayel Nassar. Both athletes tied the knot in 2021 in a huge, elite ceremony. Earlier this month, Gates and Nassar were blessed with a new addition to their family – their daughter.

Eve Jobs’ equestrian background

Starting at an early age, Eve Jobs had somewhat of a similar story to Jennifer, in terms of parental support of career choices. The Stanford Student was ambitious enough to juggle both academics and horse-jumping shows. Turns out, the youngest daughter of the late tech innovator, is an excellent all-rounder, excelling at the sport while balancing academics. This brought support from her mother Laurene Powell Jobs.

Seeing her daughter’s passion blossom, Powell Jobs also acquired a property well-equipped with equestrian facilities for Eve to train. Not only did this property cost her a whopping $15.3 million but this estate also stood right across the mansion that Bill Gates purchased for Jennifer. That leads us to the rivalry between the two.

When rivals Gates and Jobs faced each other on the equestrian field

There have been multiple instances of the two women competing in the same event. Since they come from similar backgrounds, they often grab the attention of fans and the media. Eve has shone bright with her signature horse, Venue D’fees Des Hazalles. Meanwhile, Jennifer picked one of her horses, Alex, as her favorite.

Jobs has won 13 of 395 starts while Gates won 5 out of 582 total starts. Both women are passionate about the sport and have showcased high-level skills in the field. According to Business Insider, they have even gone head-to-head in 2015 at an LA showjumping competition, and in 2016 at a Miami Beach event. Both Gates and Jobs are immensely talented and still keep their love for the sport and horses alive.
