Equestrian sports have witnessed numerous initiatives being launched in recent times for the betterment of the sport. There are steps being taken to improve the quality of races at the various racetracks and then there are initiatives taken to find a safe haven for the retired equine partners. The New York Racing Association is also launching and supporting various programs to safeguard the sport and the athletes involved. Not many days have passed since the officials decided to maintain an adequate gap between the time period of the triple crown races so that horses can have the time to rest and recover.

Even NYRA has decided to launch a scheme where retired race horses can find new homes and careers. This will help overcome the issue of these equine athletes being abandoned after they are of no use. Following these strategies, a thoroughbred racing association is introducing a new official who brings prior experience in the sport and is now dedicated to enhancing both the equestrian itself and the well-being of the horses involved.
