Guy Williams exemplifies exquisite equestrian showjumping. He has made history with an unmatched fifth London International Horse Show title, securing his third consecutive LeMieux Puissance crown aboard Mr Blue Sky. His triumph, the fourth win for this dynamic duo, adds to his previous 2011 victory on Richi Rich and underlines his dominance in the sport. Based in Kent, the 52-year-old’s ascent in showjumping began with significant wins at HOYS in 2003 on Loro Piana Hamlet, a horse mentored to him by Peter Charles.

Even though he has performed exceptionally well, Williams openly deliberated the ebbs and flows of his job. He showcased the greatness of certain aspects while acknowledging the problems he faced at other times. His journey, though appearing easy from a distance, took a real turn as he honestly detailed both the favorable and challenging parts. His injury hasn’t dented his sheen one bit as he took his viewers down memory lane recently, chronicling his journey.

Recently, Guy Williams shared a fast-forward reel on Facebook, encompassing 60 photos that depict his equestrian journey, moments with his family and kids, adventures, and triumphs. What made the reel more compelling was the caption accompanying it, stating, Can’t say it was the best year for me, sidelined for 4 months with a back injury. However, we kept working and fighting, and we had some good fun and wins along the way. Here’s to the memories.”

In June, Williams and the exceptional Mr Blue Sky UK had dominated the country’s major puissance events for the past five years. They claimed the £3,570 first prize at Bolesworth by being the sole pair to clear the wall in the final round. Despite Guy’s back injury, they triumphed effortlessly, with Mr Blue Sky leaping over the massive obstacle, showcasing his ease up to 2m15. Guy, struggling due to his injury, had contemplated having Richard Howley ride Mr Blue Sky but decided to compete, citing financial considerations.

During the puissance, participants face escalating jumps over the “big red wall,” with each successful round raising the height. Knocking down any fences or experiencing refusals from their horses results in elimination. The victor is determined by the contestant with the highest successful jump by the competition’s end.
