Injuries are an inevitable part of sports, and the involvement of animals makes it even more vulnerable for the athletes. Equestrian sports have always been a sport where both the players and the animals have sustained some brutal injuries. There is another athlete who sustained a terrible injury last year during a race when her ride threw her off the saddle, which left the girl with some saddening physical disabilities.

But it looks like there is a ray of hope for the athlete, as she is all set to receive special treatment with the help of her family, and it can help her start things from a new perspective.

As reported by the BBC, Rosey Gregory from St Austell, Cornwall, suffered a catastrophic injury when she was thrown by a horse. She broke her neck, which later left her body paralyzed. This tragic incident unfolded during a race in April 2022 in Wales. She is unable to walk, even after receiving treatment for months. In an effort to enhance Rosey’s condition, her family is now embarking on a significant endeavor to provide her with a positive intervention.

This new treatment is called “spinal cord epidural stimulation” in which the patient is given an electric current to restore some of the abilities that were lost due to the broken neck or the spinal injury. The treatment will take place in the United States. Talking about this, her mother Julia McQuillen-Wright stated, “It will not necessarily give Rosey the ability to walk,” she further added, “but there are so many other things that don’t work.” The family is really hopeful about the treatment as it will restore the functions of some of her body parts. For the treatment, the family would require a hefty amount of money, which they are looking to raise as soon as possible.

The Treatment Brings Hope to the Family

The family has raised more than $64,000 to help her with the previous treatment and would still require $183,000 to get her operation done. 20-year-old Rosey’s twin sister, Scarlett, has extended her gratitude to the people who helped her. She is taking care of her sister and is proud of how she has managed to hold her head up during the rehabilitation days.
