Equestrian farms are very valuable properties used for various horse riding events. These are usually owned by wealthy families or business conglomerates. Moreover, selling them is always a big event, majorly for their estimated worth and recon-structural possibilities. Rhode Island which is one of America’s most prestigious horse farms is making headlines for getting a new owner for a  $5.83 million sale.

Recently, Daily Mail reported that Rhode Islands owners, the Vanderbilt family have decided to put the valuable property for sale. Nevertheless, it bears a huge history that is worth knowing.

Here’s a glorious history of the prestigious equestrian farm

Sandy Point Farm or the Rhode Islands belongs to Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt, the son of millionaire Cornelius Vanderbilt. Nevertheless, Cornelius Vanderbilt amassed a great source of money from his vast shipping and railroad empire. The equestrian farm was a 280-acre estate property. However, when Reginald became the heir of the property, he splurged the family wealth to a great extent.

After he passed away in 1925, his heir Gloria Vanderbilt faced great financial trouble due to Reginald. As a result, he had no choice but to auction the equestrian farm. Nevertheless, he also had to sell the horses. Now the last part of the property, the waterfront stable is getting sold for $5.83 million. It is a 6-acre and 24-stable property consisting of a massive 15,000-square-foot riding arena and grooming area.

The present realtor, Kylie McCollough expressed in the interview with Daily Mail about the possibilities of renovating the property that has been auctioned. She told, “’I could see [the farm] turning into a therapeutic riding center like The Shea Center in California. It could also be a great equestrian center like a mini-Hamptons, or it could be an extension of our counterparts in Wellington, FL.”

Horse sold for $70 million after his great performance

Equestrian enthusiasts bet on horses as well. Therefore, it requires horses that are fast and have great speed. Recently, a horse named Fusaichi Pegasus made history by getting sold for a massive $70 million. It currently holds the title of the most expensive racehorse in the history of the sport.

It was trained by one of the greatest riders, Neil Drysdale. They performed exceptionally well at the Kentucky Derby making a whopping amount of $1, 994,400. This made the biggest breeding powerhouse Coolmore Ireland purchase the horse for $70 million.
