Last year saw all the outpourings regarding the final design selection of the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics Gangwon. The fanfare adjusted over 3000 submissions to run for the obvious selection. However, the panel of the International Olympics Committee couldn’t help but swoon over the impeccable design made by Akira Uwai. The subtle message of ‘A Sparkling Future’ of the design made it into the center stage. The message resonated with the ultimate notion the Olympics committee wanted to serve. It was visible in the Summer Olympics’ laurel as well.

In the Olympics year, the design of the Paris Summer Olympics’ medals started to coruscate as well. However, the design wasn’t so new as the Youth one did. But the late trumpet call was nothing short of glamorizing things.

On January 2, TRACKLETICS tried to be part of the grandezza that will take place six months later, in the city of Paris. The IG handle of the network posted the final design of the Summer Olympics’ insignia. While showcasing the gilded medals, the engaging caption read, “The 2024 Paris Olympic medal designs are in.” Fueling the interest of the communities, the caption detailed the name of the designer. It was the French craftsman, Phillippe Starck. In 2017, when Paris earned his 2024 host status, he finalized the main design of the Circular Glory. However, Phillippe Starck’s stint with the Olympics was nothing new.

Before hopping on the 2017 occasion, Starck was working in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics flame designing team. Taking note of that, Olympics legend, Tony Estanguet requested to take the realm of designing the medal this time. That concerted effort made the design flourish with a maxim, “Made for sharing”. In far more revelation, Starck added, “the medalists will be able to take their medal, split it to give way to three other medals to offer to their loved ones as a witness to this great day, this great moment of self surpassing.” The medal made another appearance in the Paris Olympics.

The Olympics iconography this time held several French icons together. One of them was the French emblem, Marianne. The icon dictated a strong semaphore mixing the Marianne and the medallion sphere in the same place. Designed by the French, Sylvain Boyer, the iconography maintained the true form of a Parisienne.

The same went with the design of the Olympics and Paralympics games village. The French builder, Dominique Perrault, kept sustainability at the core of planning the whole architecture. As the other models signified, the games village remained true to the French history and culture as well. Now, after all the boxes are ticked, the fans are waiting with bated breath for the showdown.
