Cyclist Lance Armstrong is one of the most controversial athletes in the world. The 51-year-old was at the peak of his career when everything shattered for him. Not that anybody else was responsible for it. Instead, it was a result of all his wrong-doings. After winning seven titles at the Tour de France consecutively from 1999 to 2005, he was stripped from them because of his involvement in a blood doping case. In. 2013 comedian Bill Burr mocked Lance’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, where he tried to cheat on the world with his lies.

Lance began his career in cycling at the age of 16. In 1989 and 1990, he was a national sprint-course triathlon champion. Armstrong started professionally in 1992 with Motorola. He saw a string of success between 1993 and 1996, winning many titles like the World Championship, the Clásica de San Sebastián Tour DuPont, and many others.

Comedian Bill Burr snubs the two

In 2013, Lance appeared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that made aggressive headlines for his lies. He bluffed in the discussion about taking legal blood doping. Seeing that interview, comedian Bill Burr mocked both of them on the Conan’s Show that year. He stated:

“He didn’t do anything to me. The only good thing he did, he raised $500 million for cancer research. That’s what he did. Everybody had the bands on right oh yeah… that blocked out the sun yeah….You know it was not cancer yeah…it was annoying.”

Further adding, “And I hated how Oprah was interviewing him and acting like she was dumbfounded that this guy would do this.”

He also said that Oprah has been in show business for 35 years and she could not understand what Lance was trying to do to take his career to the next level. Evidently, Bill neither bought the interview nor Lance’s justification.

Lance experienced a great cycling career until his life’s biggest scandal. It started in 1996 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He was in the third stage but survived the deadly health condition. To make a comeback, Lance involved himself in systematic blood doping. This made him look like a ‘miracle’ in the cycling industry.

He won Tour de France consecutively for seven years. Moreover, after recovering from cancer, he ideated to form a charity for people suffering from cancer.

Lance’s remarkable comeback earned his charity, Livestrong Charity, $500 million. However, in 2012, an investigation revealed his misdeeds. Lance also bribed the International Cycling Union (UCI) to cover up his positive doping test.
