There is finally exciting news for fans of Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates. The two-time Tour de France champion and his formidable team are gearing up to grace the screens of Netflix’s highly anticipated second season of Tour de France Unchained. Earlier in the current Tour de France, UAE Team Emirates denied rumors of their involvement in the upcoming season. However, their stance has since shifted, and they have struck a deal with series producer Quadbox.
The show has been well-received by cycling enthusiasts around the globe. However, cycling fans missed one of the best cyclists and one of the best cycling teams in the world. Pogacar and his team indirectly featured in season one via racing footage, but will now be giving viewers a more behind-the-scenes look at their lives and preparations for the Tour de France.

The highest-paid cyclist in the world made the news official by posting a video on his Instagram. He confirmed that UAE Team Emirates will be making their official debut in the next season Tour de France Unchained Season 2. However, the new agreement between UAE Team Emirates and Quadbox is different from the primary deal that was stuck with the eight teams that featured in the debut season.
Jumbo-Visma, EF Education-EasyPost, Soudal-QuickStep, Ineos Grenadiers, Groupama-FDJ, Alpecin-Deceuninck, Bora-Hansgrohe, and AG2R Citroën are all set to reprise their roles in the second season. According to a Cycling news report, Lidl-Trek and Jayco-AlUla also expressed interest but ultimately missed the cut due to the commitment of the initial eight teams.
Netflix invested a substantial €8 million to bring this gripping series to life. As part of the deal, the eight participating teams received a shared sum of $556,322, generously amounting to $67,000 for each team. In addition, the Tour de France organizer, ASO, and the host broadcaster, France Télévisions, secured $278,161 each from the arrangement. The eagerly awaited first season of the show made its debut last month, leaving cycling audiences wanting more such content. Netflix executives also expressed their contentment with the initial viewing figures. They later confirmed the creation of an equally enthralling season two that will drop next summer. This news comes after the two-time champion lost his chance to win the yellow jersey recently.
Tadej Pogačar’s yellow jersey miss
The Slovenian claimed that Wednesday’s Stage 17 race was like “riding in hell” for him. He lost out on the opportunity to win his third yellow jersey as he finished six minutes down on Jumbo-Visma’s Jonas Vingegaard. At Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Pogacar had fractured his wrist, and it was only last month when he returned to training. His loss would mean that with only a handful of stages left, Vingegaard has now an almost unsurpassable lead at the top of the general classification.
Netflix is clearly betting big on the Tour de France, and the second season of Tour de France: Unchained is just one example of its commitment to the sport. Bringing in Pogacar is a major coup for Netflix, as the Slovenian is one of the most popular and successful cyclists in the world. His inclusion in the second season is sure to boost viewership and make the show even more interesting.
