Departed for Italy, eight Boxing World Qualification Tournament delegates aim to qualify in the Paris Olympic Games qualification tournament. Where an aggregate of 49 places will be grabbing the coveted berth, the qualification round will carry forward the traditional discipline ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

A coveted octa squad to rain hell at the Boxing World Qualification Tournament

Just as few days remain for the Olympic Games Qualification, the official page of USA Boxing on Instagram declared, “2 days away from competition getting underway for our 8″. Team USA Boxing roster updated five male boxers and three women boxers to contest in the Paris Olympic Qualification round.

After qualifying for the Pan American Games at Santiago 2023, the US roster upgraded by athletes etching their names in the history books of wrestling. The five men boxers included Roscoe Hill (Spring, TX) in the 51kg, Emilio Garcia (Laredo, TX) in the 63.5kg, Omari Jones (Orlando, FL) in the 71kg, Robby Rahim Gonzales (Las Vegas, NV) in the 80 kg and Jamar Talley (Camden, NJ) in the 92kg category.
The remaining 3 boxers from the women’s wrestling fraternity consisted of Naomi Graham, Alyssa Mendoza, and Shera Mae Patricio. While Naomi Graham is a previous Olympian, Alyssa Mendoza, and Shera Mae Patricio are the 2022 USA Boxing Elite National Champion and Olympic Team Trials for Boxing champion, respectively. Not overshadowing their limelight, the eight qualifiers from the Boxing USA team will be seen battling the Olympic Team Trials in the Boxing Championship.
Further scheduling heading towards the 2024 Paris Olympics
The next opportunity to punch in their sure-shot spot, post the Boxing World Qualification Tournament, at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be the first World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy, starting from 4th of March till the 11th of March. The qualification criteria have been pre-announced. It says that out of these eight qualifiers from the Boxing World Qualification Tournament, seven ought to place in the top four to mark their Olympic spot.

While Alyssa Mendoza from the Team USA women’s wrestling needs to qualify in the top two during the Italy Tournament, the rest, if backslide, would get a last opportunity at the 2nd World Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand, scheduled from May 23 to June 3, 2024.
