The Paris Olympics 2024 is approaching soon and Team USA Boxing has high anticipations for the upcoming flagship tournament. To confirm their spots in the Summer Olympics, USA Boxing has completely shifted its attention to the World Qualification tournament event taking place at Busto Arsizio, Italy in the E-Work Arena.
This qualifying tournament was among the largest in boxing history for the Olympic qualifications. There are more than 600 boxers taking part. The five male boxers sent by the USA are Jamar Talley, Omari Jones, Emilio Garcia, Roscoe Hill, and Robby Rahim Gonzalez.
USA picks up four victories on day 5

Team USA Boxing won four more bouts advancing to the next round in the tournament. First, it was Shera Mae Patricio and Alyssa Mendoza who opened up Team USA’s account. As seen in the Instagram post shared by USA Boxing, Omari Jones defeated Mohamed Rachem of Belgium by a unanimous decision to pick up USA’s third win of the day. Jamar stated after his win, “I got the first one underway, and it was a good win to start the tournament. I am just going to get better and sharper as the tournament continues.”

Jones was under total control for all three rounds of the fight and his strong jab helped him defeat his opponent. In the next round, he will lock horns against Moslem Maghsoudi Mal Amiri from Iran. Next up, it was Jamar Talley who picked up a win in the heavyweight division. Coming up against Morocco’s Ayoub Maani, he controlled things right from the first bell. During the 1st minute of the fight, he gave his opponent a standing 8-count and raced to a 5-0 lead. He will face Armenia’s Narek Manasyan on Saturday in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The World Boxing Qualifiers are a crucial stepping stone for American boxers who want to fulfill their dreams of bringing home an Olympic medal for their country.
