Two-time Mr.Olympia Mamdouh Elssbiay a.k.a Big Ramy failed to retain his title in Mr.Olympia 2022 on 18 December. Fans were in deep shock at Ramy’s defeat because the hype around him winning for the third time was massive. Contrary to everyone’s expectations, Ramy finished fifth place in the competition whereas 35-year-old Hadi Choopan became Mr.Olympia 2022. Recently, bodybuilder Dennis James who spent a great time with Ramy during the preparation phase expressed deep shock at Ramy’s poor finish in an Instagram post.

James said Ramy was in great shape “just one week before the competition.” In his Instagram post, the bodybuilder expressed that Ramy “was right on point throughout”, but the results did not turn out in his favor.

Dennis James penned an encouraging post for Big Ramy

Being a close associate of Big Ramy, Dennis James witnessed his preparation for Mr.Olympia from scratch. James claimed that he took Ramy’s picture frequently to compare his progress. He was completely dejected after the two-time champion’s poor finish in the recent competition. In his Instagram post, James posted Ramy’s picture from 11 December stating that he was doing his best.

The bodybuilder expressed in the post:

“What I can say is that Ramy was right on point throughout the time he was here in Arizona. I took pictures twice a day and not once was I worried about him not being at his best. I know Ramy worked extremely hard this year and I know the goal was to come in at his all-time best.”

James stated that he did not want to speculate on what went wrong in the competition. In one of the interviews, he also stated that he was pushing Ramy hard to prepare for Olympia 2022. Moreover, James had seen Ramy practicing dedicatedly throughout the time he was in Arizona.

Later, in his post, he stated that he was hopeful that Ramy and his coach Chad would work on the things that did not align with their plan. James concluded the post by saying:

Champ keep your head up, cause you been there before and always came back stronger!”

Moreover, the picture that Denis James shared was captured by him at 8.25 am on an empty stomach after cardio. Ramy looked extremely pumped and chiseled in it.

Ramy has a great plan for 2023

Big Ramy’s loss in Mr.Olympia 2022 might have upset his fans and associates but not the bodybuilder. The 37-year-old is highly optimistic about his comeback in 2023. He stated in an interview on the Smilodox YouTube channel that he has a ‘great plan’ to get his title back next year.

Big Ramy has no complaints about the judgment in the recent Mr.Olympia. He trusts the judges and hopes that they will make fair decisions next year as well.
