The US Women’s Basketball Team has been ruling the international basketball scene for a long time. The American ballers, who have qualified for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024, rarely find their match on the court. This has allowed them to breeze past several big achievements, including the 2022 FIBA World Cup.

The US Women’s Basketball Team recently trained with their US collegiate counterparts at a three-day camp. The camp was headed by the American team’s head coach Cheryl Reeve, who is also the HC of the Minnesota Lynx. Interestingly, while the team heads to the Paris Olympics 2024 in another 169 days, the veteran HC spilled the secret behind her team’s success.

Speaking to the Olympics.com, head coach Reeve said that the American basketball stars are extremely efficient at adapting. She noted, “Their ability to adapt on the fly is just something that I marvel at. Because of their overseas play, they’ve played for so many different teams.”

The Paris Olympics 2024 HC further added“They start at a young age, whether it’s AAU teams, high school teams, college teams, then go to the pros. They’re playing for multiple teams within a year, three teams if you’re a national team player.” Giving an example, she said that she just lays down the instructions for a player and the players execute what is asked of them.

Reeve noted that the roles they play in Team USA aren’t always the same roles they fulfill in WNBA or other leagues. While it may be challenging for US basketball players, it doesn’t act as a handicap. This very adaptability has led American women to dominate all competitions, including the Olympics. With their performance, the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 presents a chance for Team USA to bag its eighth consecutive Olympic gold.
