The fast-paced FIBA 3×3 Basketball Shanghai Masters is currently underway. The first ever edition of Shanghai Masters is providing all the thrills in the world to basketball enthusiasts. The two-day event started today and will conclude on Sunday. Among the 12 teams in the competition, Team USA’s squad has taken the basketball world by storm as they clinched a triumphant victory in a nail-biting finish.

A squad of NBA rookies and undrafted players made a remarkable entrance on Chinese soil, stunning everyone with a last-second buzzer-beater to claim victory. The news has spread like wildfire in the NBA and basketball worlds, as it was one of the closest finishes to a 3×3 game.

It was team Omaha who kept their nerves until the end, despite the score being tied at 20-20, but James Parrott blazed through the defense of Utrecht and helped his team grab the top spot. FIBA 3×3 took it to X (formerly Twitter) to share the clip of this thrilling faceoff with an accompanied caption that reads, “Omaha beat Utrecht with a Maurice Lacroix Buzzer-Beater.” Parrott, in jersey number 1, displayed his sheer pace and agility, and he did not give team Utrecht a chance, as before the Dutch could even react, the ball was already in the basket.

Even before the commencement of the Shanghai Masters, Parrott was a much-buzzed-about player with his ability to score from the half-court. In the conclusive 21 points game, Parrott single-handedly scored nine points with four rebounds and ensured his squad’s victory. Apart from the 33-year-old Nebraskan, Trey Bardsley contributed with six points and two rebounds, while Mitch Hahn and Klaye Rowe scored four and two points, respectively, and grabbed eight and two rebounds. from Omaha and Utrecht, there are several other teams participating in the event that are worth keeping an eye on.

Vienna, Beijing, Partizan, Saitama ALPHAS EXE, Antananarivo, Shinagawa CC EX, Partizan, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, Futian, and Wuxi are the teams that are participating in the Chinese event. Vienna is a team that is considered to be the favorites as they have previous experience from this year’s World Tour, where the team performed exceptionally well and tasted victory.

Liman Huishan NE (SRB), the second-seeded team, was placed second at the Macau event, and this team’s fate is highly dependent on how Stefan Kojic and Mihailo Vasic perform. The Shanghai crowd will also be cheering at the top of their lungs for the local squads of Beijing, Wuxi, and Futian. In the meantime, the other teams will be looking to make an impact in this competition, as the sport is all about unexpected upsets.
