The Jamaica National Championships is currently underway and renowned track and field athletes from the Caribbean are showcasing their talent. As high-octane performances galore, Shericka Jackson took her prowess to another level at the 100-meter competition. She broke the all-time record of Sha’Carri Richardson, which she had only registered 24 hours ago at the USATF. Richardson, however, saw this as healthy competition and acknowledged and praised Jackson for her remarkable feat.
Sha’Carri Richardson is in stellar form this year, and she just upped it a notch by creating a record at the 100-meters event at the USATF recently. Unfortunately for her, the record didn’t last 24 hours as Shericka Jackson broke it in Jamaica. Instead of feeling bitter about it, Richardson has embraced this feat by Jackson in the most positive manner possible.

Sha’Carri Richardson recently took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “SLIDINGGGGGGGGGG @sherickajacko” with a picture of Shericka Jackson wearing a blue track and field suit and looking backward with a surprising expression on her face.
What was also surprising was her speed at the Jamaica Nationals. Richardson had created a new record at the USATF of 10.71 seconds just a day or two ago. Jackson overcame that by a healthy 0.6 seconds. She won her 100-meter dash in 10.65 seconds and left the entire track and field world with their jaw wide open.

Sha’Carri Richardson is on her own mission
On the other hand, Sha’Carri Richardson is not only putting up a stellar display of performances on the track but also fighting the entire system. She is fighting for every track and field athlete to be treated with respect and be given an amount that they are worthy of after winning. Amidst all of it, it was rather sweet of her to lend such a message of solidarity to a fellow track athlete who just broke her record.

While Shericka Jackson is yet to respond to Richardson, the latter’s congratulatory words of encouragement would mean a lot to her. Jackson has been in her best touch so far since she faced tough competition like Elaine Thompson-Herah and Natasha Morrison in her race. Her win was closely followed by Shelly-Ann-Fraser-Pryce‘s dominant win at the 200-meter dash. The two would be serious contenders for Jamaica at the World Championships in Budapest in August, while Richardson would be for the USA.
