Alpine Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn’s love for her mother is no mystery to us. Breathing her last as she succumbed to a rare nerve disease, her mother, Lindy Anne Lund was Vonn’s biggest supporter. The athlete frequently updates her social media talking about the go-getter mentality that she imbibed from her mother. However, recently on her birthday, Vonn wrote a heartfelt message on Twitter which unexpected turn upset the apple cart.

On 26th March, the Olympian posted a picture on Twitter of her mother as a remembrance what would have been her 71st birthday. Many joined to commemorate the day. However, an insensitive comment from a grumpy Gus disappointed Vonn.

Lindsey Vonn has been very active on social media from the start. In fact, she goes on campaigns, promotes her foundation, and engages herself in philanthropic activities. That’s the reason all her fans who tend to support her ventures love her. But surprisingly, her mother’s birthday post fetched a cynical comment from a follower.

Robert Fernandez, wrote, “She died because of your black-loving ways.” Being acknowledged by many as an offensive remark, the comment caught the eyes of the fans and started a keyboard war. However, Vonn herself couldn’t resist add a fitting response to the follower. She wrote, “Wow. Your Mother clearly didn’t teach you any manors, but mine did. Have a lovely day.”

Vonn and her gracious self shunned the user’s response. Not to take anything away from the special day that is today for Vonn, it was no less than a celebration of a life well lived.

Vonn wished her mother ‘Happy Birthday’

The Olympic medalist wrote a heartfelt encomium on Twitter that began with, “Happy birthday Mom. You would have been 71 years old today. On your bday, I’m trying to remember how thankful I am to have had you as a mother but today reminds me even more that you aren’t here.” Vonn misses the forgiving presence of her mother in her life. In fact, the skiing queen ended the post with a beautiful insight from her mother, “Today is another great day.

The 37-year-old skiing legend always recounted how her mother Lindy Anne Lund made it her through the ebbs and flows of life with daring optimism to face the head-on challenges with honesty and perseverance.
