Mikaela Shiffrin’s incredible achievements in skiing are well known, making her youngest Olympic gold medalist in skiing at just 18 years old in 2014. Similarly, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is the 2020 World Cup champion in alpine skiing. Kilde made his World Cup debut at the age of 20 in competitive skiing in October 2012. One notable milestone in Kilde’s career came in 2013 when he clinched the junior world championship title in the giant slalom.
Since then, Kilde has continued to excel, earning accolades such as the 2020 World Cup championship in alpine skiing. In 2021, he wrote an essay for the Owl Post about his history on the slopes. He exclaimed, “I got my first pair of skis when I was just three years old and I immediately began to go up and down the hill opposite to our house”. While this association with the slopes helped him big time in his career, he is fairly good at another sport as well.
Often referred to as “The Arnold Schwarzenegger of skiing,” his weightlifting abilities are also praised widely. According to reports, he can bench press more than 300 pounds with a max squat of nearly 500. However, Kilde is not all about sports.

Apart from all this, he stands for the cause of climate change. Aligning with this, he joined hands with Syngenta Group, a company focused on helping farmers and fighting climate change. Despite having so many shades, Kilde, however, is constantly standing strong on one ground.

Most of you probably look at it saying: ‘she has lost it’, ‘she can’t handle the pressure’ or ‘what happened?’ Which makes me frustrated, because all I see is a top athlete doing what a top athlete does! … It’s all about the balance and we are just normal human beings!! I love you Kaela.”
