USA’s skiing icon, also known as the American Ski god, Ted Ligety, has been a dominant name in the annals of Alpine ski racing for nearly a decade. Still, his name raises eyebrows with interest not only for his tremendous achievements on the slopes but also off the slopes. Once again, the American favorite Alpine racing son has been under the spotlight.
The focus is not on a recent triumph or failure but on revisiting his previous self alongside NBC Sports. After two years of retirement from his Alpine Skiing career, the two-time Olympic champion and skiing legend is back at the Winter Olympics. How?
Nostalgic Olympic triumph

Recently, Ted Ligety sat with NBC Sports and Paralympics to reminisce about the skiing memories Ted had with the Winter Olympics. Soon after the interview session, NBC Sports took it to their official X account and posted a glimpse of their conversation. Alongside the clip, they penned, “Two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety still cannot believe what he did in his first Winter Olympics.“

In the same video, Ted said, “2006 is definitely the highlight. I was a 21-year-old kid still living at home with my parents.” Ligety, at the age of 21, featured a World Cup podium finish at Worlds, Beaver Creek. When Ted finished atop the podium, little did he know what he was going to accomplish ahead in 2006.
He added, “I’d had a couple of World Cup podiums at that point but was far from believing that I was a medal contender in those Olympics. So, to achieve a childhood dream in my first go, in my first event, was shocking. I still pinch myself to this day.” At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Ted acclaimed the status of a skiing legend by accomplishing the feat.
However, this is not the only achievement he has had.

At a mere 21 years of age, Ted became the youngest American male to secure an Olympic gold medal and the first American to win an Olympic gold after a dozen years. Over the years, Ligety conquered Alpine skiing, imprinting his name on the upcoming skiing aspirants. Eventually, he earned two-time Olympic gold.
In addition to this, he appeared in the Olympics four times in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. Apart from this, Ted’s excellence in the annals of skiing can be estimated by six world championship appearances, wherein he accomplished gold in 2015, 2011, and 2013 for

Giant Slalom, Super Combined, and Super G. Once again in 2013, Ted rose to fame as he earned three golds at the single world Championships registering his name after Jean Claude Killey (1968).
