The GOAT of alpine skiing, Mikaela Shiffrin is an inspiration to the whole world. She motivates us to push our limits and dream bigger. Not just the skiing arena, but the entire field of sports admires her for her powerful performance and courageous thoughts. The Olympian also won the ESPY award for best women athlete 2023 which added one more feather to her hat.

To make her the most successful alpine skier of all time, her coaches have equally contributed to her incredible career. However, the Olympian split with her former coach Mike Day in February 2023 and they celebrated seven years of joy before parting in the middle of the world championships. On 12 June 2023, Shiffrin announced the name of her new head coach, Karin Harjo. Now, her team consists of three strong special women to manifest the unique talent of the alpine queen. She recently shared her thoughts and wrote a heartfelt message to her head coach and appreciates the team for their constant efforts.

A Youtube Series called ‘Moving Right Along’ covers every nook and cranny of her alpine skiing vocation. From her vulnerable moments to triumphing junctures, everything is beautifully manifested in the series. Interestingly, she shared a snippet from episode seven on her Instagram handle. The clip shows her mother Eileen Shiffrin talking about Karin Harjo’s contributions and importance in Shiffrin’s career.

 

Mikaela Shiffrin acknowledged her powerful female team and wrote, “I have three strong women (Karin, @regandewhirst, and @eileenshiffrin) on my team who do a lot of work behind the scenes to help me and support me.” In the caption, she also mentioned an Alpine fan who previously commented on Shiffrin’s post, appreciating the female coach in a male-dominated society. Now, fans are asking, is it the reason the athlete left her former coach? In response, Mikaela wanted to do something different in the new phase of her alpine career and she merely wanted to create a new team.

Shiffrin recreated her alpine team

When Shiffrin split her ways from her former coach Mike Day, the world was in an instant shock. Mikaela and her team later confirmed that they wanted to create a new Alpine team moving ahead to the new season. She acknowledged Mike’s efforts, contribution, and hard work throughout the years and decided to move on with the new team. The recent Instagram post does not reflect any grudges with her past team, it is rather her bespoke thought on women empowerment. She said, “I’ve accomplished a lot, but maybe in this stage of my career I can give other female ski coaches more of a visual of something to strive for.”

Mikaela Shiffrin, the greatest alpine skier of all time, shares her thoughts on women’s empowerment. However, she was a little hectic after parting ways with Mike, but she was supported by the US Alpine team and soon joined Karin. With her wonderful team throughout her career, she made 88 World Cup wins and is looking forward to more such victories.
