The world came crashing down for skiing legend Lindsey Vonn when her mother departed for her heavenly abode. Passing away at 80, Linda took her last breath in the early hours of Saturday, August 27, 2022. She played an instrumental role in Lindsey’s life and had been a witness to all the feats that she achieved. Thus, as Vonn celebrated the 8th anniversary of her historic win of the super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, she can not help but remember her mother.
Trying to battle through the void, the olympian earlier today took to her Instagram stories to share the memories from the day. She did not just walk down memory lane but also posted a heartfelt tribute to her mother.

As memories came gushing back, the former American alpine ski racer took to her social media. Sharing an unseen photo with fans, Vonn wrote, “miss you mom 🥺.” The shared picture dates to the historic day when Vonn broke the longstanding women’s World Cup record by securing her 63rd victory. Reflecting on the hardships that she faced, Vonn recalled how her mother inspired her to fight back regardless of the obstacles placed in front of her. From suffering a stroke during childbirth to overcoming multiple hurdles, Linda has been a picture of strength and resilience for Vonn.

As Vonn wrote, “there are good days, and there are bad days, but every day we have with her is a great day.” For those unversed, Linda was suffering from ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a rare neurological disease that primarily affects the nerve cells. Vonn, since the unfortunate incident, has dedicated herself to raising more awareness of ALS.
