While it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, for Mikaela Shiffrin this year is also turning merrier. After surpassing the highest World Cup wins by any man or woman earlier this year, the 2-time Olympian entered another alpine skiing season. This week, the alpine skiing great stands merely ten milestones away from reaching the 100 World Cup wins mark.

Just like any other legendary athlete from cross-sports marked with excellence, it was about time Mikaela signed an upgrade. Recently, Shiffrin stepped closer to building an empire of her own updating her fans with a surprising partnership.

Mikaela Shiffrin makes career upgrade

Just days after edging her rival in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup and a freshly conclusive Killington win Mikaela took to her Instagram to share an update. The post shared the news of the American athletes’ representative company WME Sports signing Mikaela Shiffrin as their newest member. The caption announcement read, WME Sports is proud to announce we have signed Mikaela Shiffrin.

The collaboration with the billion-dollar company means that all of Shiffrin’s career commitments would be handled by them. This also includes her future contracts, events, podcasts, shows, books, or any additional commitment that makes moves from her athletic image.

WME Sports was featured in Forbes 2022- ‘Most Valuable Sports Agencies‘ for a staggering worth of $588 million. Further, the article highlighted that after the 2014 merger, its talent representation was mostly in tennis and golf under the IMG umbrella. Supported by parent business Endeavor, which also includes sports franchises like UFC and a standard Hollywood talent agency. Shiffrin will now be joining the already impressive list of standout athletes represented by the management.

WME Sports grew bigger by bringing in agent Bret Just from CAA to create a coaching representation branch. In the making, some great players booted its portfolio:

  • Serena Williams:  The tennis icon announced her retirement in 2022 after a career earning close to $95 million. She remained the most influential name represented by WME as Williams continues to be active in her second act even after hanging up her racket. In addition, she boats endorsement contracts with more than a dozen companies and makes investments through her company, Serena Ventures.

  • Novak Djokovic: A name synonymous with greatness, Djokovic earned the rare achievement of holding all four Slam titles in 2015 and 2016. Additionally, until September, he had earned $153 million, the biggest career prize money ever.
  • Gabby Douglas: Three-time Olympic gold medallist joined WME on July 26. The 27-year-old gymnast also plans to make a comeback in elite gymnastics.
