After winning her first World Cup race 12 years ago, Mikaela Shiffrin now stands as the highest World Cup winner ever. However, she isn’t satisfied yet. The Olympic double champion continues to add more glory under her belt, winning race after race. Be it the Olympics or the ongoing Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, Shiffrin continues the pursuit of the GOAT status, which she already is.
As Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup reached its 6th leg for women’s races, the American alpine skiing legend scuffed the opportunity by neck to add one more victory under her name. Post the triumphant day at St. Moritz, Shiffrin went straight to her ‘on brand‘ recovery routine.

After finally getting the better of Italian skier Sofia Goggia, that too in the downhill race, Mikaela Shiffrin deserved to celebrate, and celebrate grandly. However, she still had one more race to brace. Celebrating her triumphant day at the St. Moritz slopes, the snow queen wrote on Threads, “(on brand) PS today was FUN. Another one tomorrow (super-G!)”.
She posted an adorable picture of herself, wrapped up under the cozy blankets on her bed. She lay on the bed, in her “on brand” style, to recover from the day’s intense action. “Recovery day goal: spend as much time horizontal as possible”, Shiffrin had said previously, explaining her recovery routine.
Defeating Goggia, the Olympic downhill champion, was a remarkable achievement from Mikaela Shiffrin. However, the 2x Olympics gold medalist knew she had Super G tomorrow to race at and recover on time for the same. As a result, she looked to gear up her legs for the challenge under the warm blankets. But little did she know that nature had different plans for her.

Weather halts Shiffrin’s 100-win pursuit

The heavy snow during Saturday night resulted in women’s Super G being canceled, prolonging Shiffrin’s wait for the century of wins. Although she was disappointed, she made sure to acknowledge the support staff for their efforts.
