Iga Swiatek has tasted the sweet joys of victory and reclaimed her spot as the finest tennis player of her era. The Polish phenom demolished America’s Jessica Pegula  6-1, 6-0, and clinched victory at the famed WTA Finals in Cancún for the first time. This made the 22-year-old Iga Swiatek the youngest champion of the tournament since Petra Kvitova, who won it in 2011 at the tender age of 21. This year did arrive with its share of challenges after Swiatek lost her critically lauded No. 1 ranking in September against Jelena Ostapenko at the US Open after a remarkable 75-week reign.

However, her resounding victory at the WTA Finals pushed her back to the elite spot in women’s tennis, and she proved why she is one of the titans in the sport. This victory received a huge round of applause from fans and enthusiasts all around the world. Alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn too, was among the countless voices to share her awe and admiration for Iga Swiatek. However, amidst the celebrations, some moral police sought to cast doubt on Vonn, prompting an epic clap back from the skiing sensation.

After Iga Swiatek’s groundbreaking victory over Jessica Pegula at the WTA Finals, Lindsey Vonn, the Alpine Skiing legend, took to X, congratulating the Polish star. She expressed her awe for the 22-year-old, writing, “You just crushed it! Hard work pays off. Congrats #1!!! ”.

However, a handle called Paulo Moura wrote in reply to her post impugning the legend statement, “Strange, an American happy with the defeat of another American.” To which the legend shutting down the moral police replied, “Can I just be happy my friend won a tournament? Jeez Louise, smh”. Lindsey Vonn has been a fan of the 22-year-old WTA champion for a while and has never failed to show her admiration for the star. This isn’t the first time she has expressed her awe and respect for the Tennis number one.

How Vonn defended Iga Swiatek in the past

Back in September, after the closely contested match at the US Open, Swiatek was defeated by the formidable Jelena Ostapenko. After a 1 hour, 48-minute game, Iga Swiatek was defeated 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. This defeat broke her 75-week reign as the World No. 1 in women’s tennis. However, Vonn still supported her favorite tennis star and reached out to her with words of respect and comfort.

Vonn extended her support by sharing a photo from a flight where she was intently watching the thrilling game. She captured a snippet of the match and shared it with the caption to her Instagram story, writing, “About last night” and “Still my #1 Iga Swiatek”.
