The legendary Mikaela Shiffrin held her 85th World Cup victory yesterday by winning both the slalom races in Spindleruv Mlyn. As she stood atop the podium, the 27-year-old moved a step closer to matching the decades-old record of Ingemar Stenmark. Following her record-breaking victory, Shiffrin has girded up her lions to clinch her 86th triumph. However, the champion missed the mark by just one slalom race.
Shiffrin started the year 2023 on a great note. First in Slovenia, where she lifted her 82nd World Cup. Secondly, Italy saw her rule the arena by lifting her 83rd and 84th World Cup victories. Finally in Czechia, Shiffrin took all the plaudits by winning the first day’s slalom races and accomplishing her 85th triumph. Howbeit, Shiffrin lost her 86th triumph as she stood 2nd in the 2nd day’s slalom run.

The third place is currently held by Croatian Skier Zrinka Ljutic. However, unlike yesterday when Slovakian Petra Vlhova struggled to reach the top 3 in the first slalom, she slipped further back into the 13th position today.
