Mikaela Shiffrin would tie the historic female record set by Austrian icon Annemarie Moser-Pr?ll if she wins her sixth overall title this season, taking the coveted Crystal Globe. Fans are awaiting Shiffrin’s next ski victory with bated breath as she attempts to accomplish this historic accomplishment. Ready to reclaim her supremacy in the 2023?24 World Cup season, Shiffrin is keeping a positive mindset. After officially becoming the winningest alpine skier in March 2023, she said, ?I?m doing this sport because I love the sport, I love to improve.??

The Austrian resort of S?lden presented Mikaela Shiffrin with an early obstacle at the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup opening day: she finished sixth in the giant slalom race. She lost to Lara Gut-Behrami, a Swiss skier, by 1.40 seconds. Later, from Rettenbach Glacier in S?lden Shiffrin stated, ?The first (giant slalom) race of the season last year was Killington, and I was 13th. This year, I am sixth. It?s an improvement from the start last year.? Now back in the picturesque mountainous landscape, the World Cup champion posted a Twitter(X) update before her second run.

Shiffrin redefines alpine skiing perfection, surpassing Ingemar Stenmark’s record with her 87th World Cup victory and Lindsey Vonn’s 82 victories in the women’s division. She also increased her participation to include disciplines like downhill and super-G, during a season without any significant contests(World Championship or Olympic).?After her finish, the 2023 ESPY winner pointed out her being in an “okay place.”

However, what stood out was her self-awareness pointing out last year’s ?long time to build top form? in contrast to this year. She also noted how it’s a difficult race, but it’s also beneficial as it allows you to clearly see your areas of strength and weakness.
