Mikaela Shiffrin’s skiing heroics at the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup continue to amaze fans. With over 90 World Cup victories to her name, highest-ever in the history, Shiffrin has set herself on the road to a century of World Cup wins. However, while contesting at the Women’s Super G event in St. Moritz, the Olympic Champion’s dreams took a halt.
After winning her 89th and 90th race during this World Cup, Shiffrin was looking to further boost her tally at the Women’s Super G. However, her dreams were soon marred by the Italian Skier’s dominant performance. Sofia Goggia finished at the top of the standings while the American legend couldn’t find a place on the podium.

While the terrain was challenging, Sofia says she believed in her instinct. “You really had to read well in the terrain and to push in the points in which you could create speed. Instinct never lies”, the 31-year-old added. Earlier, she finished seventh in the giant slalom in Tremblant, Canada, and has now secured her maiden victory of the season. St. Moritz will host another Women’s Super G race in two days, and it should be a mouth-watering contest as Shiffrin looks to get back to winning ways while Goggia is determined to maintain her position.
