Alpine skiing queens Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin share a remarkable synergy on and off the slopes. Despite competing for dominance in the sport, there is no hint of strife between the two. Even more remarkable was Vonn’s assertion of her compatriot’s “Best skier ever” title in the wake of the latter supplanting of her highest World Cup win record. Now, that beautiful friendship has once again illuminated Mikaela Shiffrin’s life in a time of great urgency and dire need.

Mikaela Shiffrin’s boyfriend Aleksander Kilde encountered a serious tumble during the Lauberhorn races in Wengen. In a touching turn of events, the American skiing champ rushed to his bedside at the hospital. However, on Saturday, Shiffrin had to fly out to Slovakia to fulfill her athletic commitment. Torn between love and duty, she found words of encouragement as Vonn came in clutch with her wishes for Aleksander Kilde.

Lindsey Vonn surreptitiously reminded Mikaela Shiffrin of the joys of the sport with her IG post on Saturday. Featuring actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger in the same frame she posted a deluge of memorable snaps from her exploits at the Streif last year. In one of the snaps, the skiing icon also captured Aleksander Kilde in a groupfie. The carousel of photos was captioned, “Missing Kitzbühel this year…but these memories will stay with me forever… from cheering on my teammates 🇺🇸 with my family, to hanging with @schwarzenegger and @akilde in the finish (miss you this year Alex-heal fast!)”. No doubt, Aleksander Kilde can relate to the nostalgia in Vonn’s words as he had cherished dreams of returning to the challenging course again this year.

Now that he is languishing in a hospital room, Vonn thought it best to evoke those memories to keep Kilde afloat and in good stead. With a single stroke of sentimental reminiscence, the skiing maestro helped both her friends get through this difficult period. Her words have echoed on the slopes of Jasná where Mikaela Shiffrin is engaged in a battle for dominance.
