She shares the mutual love for the sport with her boyfriend and Norwegian alpine ski racer Aleksander Kilde. Much like Shiffrin, Kilde is no stranger to success on the slopes, charting frontiers effectively like his better half does. The FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup has now reached the Val Gardena skiing slopes for its next challenger.

Seeing firsthand how the intense competition concludes, the competing men raced for a podium spot during training. Afterwards, Kilde expressed his excitement for an impending race in Val Gardena, updating fans about his early standing.

Kilde drops a rigorous training update

Kilde spoke about his commitment to his craft post his ski training. A video of the same was posted by @skiworldcupvalgardena on Instagram. He emphasized on climatic parameters to succeed in the difficult terrain, further expressing his excitement for the technical races scheduled. He said, Yes, the snow is pretty fast. It’s moving swiftly, which is why the jumps are also covering more distance.”

The post caption read: “@akilde 2nd after the first training of today! 🔥🚀 Talking about the conditions of the Saslong, he thinks it’s quite good also with the bumps and jumps of this years edition!” With an earlier Super-G and the Downhill events wins Kilde is already a dominant name for the DOLOMITES Val Gardena Südtirol Ski Trophy. This unique award goes to the competitor who finishes the Val Gardena/Gröden race week with the most World Cup points.

Notably, Kilde boasts 200 points for his excellent performance, bettering competitors like Ryan Cochran-Siegle (112) and Kjetil Jansrud (110) and was rewarded with 5,000 euros in additional prize money, and a quick trip to Val Gardena/Gröden. While his girlfriend, Mikaela is only inching closer to her 100th World Cup victory with frequent podium finish.

The flurry of wins this season

Shiffrin is ruling the women’s alpine skiing scene recently winning her 91st World Cup at St. Moritz, Switzerland, demonstrating her versatility by triumphing in the downhill race—an event in which she isn’t usually recognized for her best skills. In addition to her self-denial status this season, she has padded her all-time record with victories in the slalom in Finland and her favorite Killington, Vermont.
