The 2023–24 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup has offered its many whirlwinds of states for athletes and enthusiasts alike. Intense competitions, cancellation of events, or a couple of setbacks for its greater names, the season has seen it all. For the leading Alpine Skiing star, Mikaela Shiffrin, a month-long run at the tour has ticked all the boxes above and more.
The 2-time Olympic medalist started the season off strong when she led the pack adorning an impressive 88 to her name. Today, three months into the tour, Mikaela Shiffrin has extended her record with 95 wins, has witnessed the gruesome accident of her long-time boyfriend, and more recently, has succumbed to injuries, staying off the grounds. Before getting on the slopes of Olimpia delle Tofane, on the 26th, Mikaela Shiffrin had expressed the fear they presented. “I love it here…although yesterday was a little bit of a shock to the system being back on DH skis, and I had a couple “scary” moments on the course,” she wrote on Instagram. To the tricks of fate, the champion lost control, colliding with the nets around the following day. The incident left Shiffrin with a left leg injury and a couple of days away from the tracks. “Till we see you back on skis, rest up @mikaelashiffrin,“ Adidas Terrex wrote in an Instagram story shared by Shiffrin.
While Adidas has held a strong partnership with the Olympian, producing collaborative gear, it hasn’t been the only brand that commended the champion’s excellence. Further along Shiffrin’s stories, Oakley Skiing chimed in wishing her well. “Rise above the challenges, your comeback awaits,“ the message read. Next on the list was the Italian MNC, Barilla, who wrote, “Sending our love and support to the incredible @mikaelashiffrin.” And as the brands await the champion’s return, enthusiasts wait alongside them. However, the path remains uncertain.
