The snow-covered pistes, scenic mountains, and ski gear are everything one needs to make an escapade down the slope, right? Well, while snowy slopes make rather a good case for exhibiting skiing merely as child’s play, it’s not that easy. While many aces the game effortlessly, some struggle to find their balance on the ski skates. For professionals, alpine skiing is easy as pie, whereas, for beginners, the white pistes can pose many challenges.
Likewise, in a recent viral video, a skiing enthusiast can be seen failing in her attempts at skiing. While the novice skier’s efforts went in vain, many started a discussion revolving around skiing dangers.

The skiing video triggered an impromptu discussion on social media
Recently, the media news company, Tyla took to its Facebook handle to share a video of a tyro woman skier. In the video, the woman can be seen using a poma lift to make an ascent up the hill. However, she kept losing her grasp on the surface lift and kept falling face-first on the snow. Captioning the video, Tyla wrote, “Skiing isn’t really for everyone”.
Reacting to the post, many brimmed the comment section with either their personal experiences or perspectives on the video.
“I went skiing once and ended up in a cast from big toe to hip. The whole thing looked strangely familiar….’’
“Been there, done that. (My last ski lesson when I was 18 ripped and tore the ligaments in my left knee. Suffered for years with pain and arthritis. Total knee replacement last Oct. Won’t do my right knee due to the excruciating pain.)”

“The first time is the worst time. I was the same way the first time I skied. Now I can ski on everything. My friend told me “it’s the best feeling you can get with your pants on” and I agree. I ski every chance I get”
Interestingly, some even shared their experiences with Poma lifts.
“Looks like a Poma lift… short for Pomagalski. I grew up using this type of lift at a private resort in Fenton Michigan named Kandahar. Most people want to sit down but you need to stand and let it pull you”
