From claiming her 83rd and 84th world cup victories in Kronplatz to bagging the 85th world cup record in Spindleruv Mlyn, Shiffrin ensured her fans stayed in awe. Currently, the 27-year-old star is only a step away from matching Swedish legend, Ingemar Stenmark’s decades-old record of 86.
On 28th January, Shiffrin won both the Slalom races and carried the day with a victorious grin. After she held the momentous prize, her fans and many from the skiing community hailed the champion with a treasure trove of plaudits.
Interestingly, a couple of days before Shiffrin skied down the giant slalom of Czechia, the Swedish skiing luminary, Ingemar Stenmark had applauded Shiffrin and wished her 100 world cup wins.

Ingemar Stenmark praised Mikaela Shiffrin
Soon after Shiffrin held her 83rd world cup in Italy, Stenmark left a remarkable commendation for the champion. As per the report of Wall Street Journal, the Swedish prodigy stated, “Shiffrin is such a great skier with a fantastic technique”. In his encomium for the American star, Stenmark mentioned that he “will be happy for her” when Shiffrin will break his record.
Expressing his unequivocal regard for the 27-year-old, Stenmark predicted, “She will be the first to reach 100 World Cup victories”. Clearly, Stenmark wished only the best to the champion for her future endeavors.
However, Stenmark isn’t the only one who praised Shiffrin for her skiing flair. The American skiing star, Lindsey Vonn also lauded Shiffrin when she matched her mark of 82 world cups.

On January 8th 2023, Shiffrin held her 82nd world cup in Slovenia. Following her victory, Vonn stated in an interview, “to win 82 world cups is an incredible achievement, one that only two people in the world have ever experienced before her”. Expressing her deem for Shiffrin, the 38-year-old further added, “she will no doubt go far beyond 82…raising the bar for the next generation of American skiers”.

In just a span of one month, Shiffrin accomplished four world cup victories to her name. The American is rather moving forward with great zeal to accomplish her record breaking new year resolutions. Now, fans, spectators, and folks from the skiing fraternity await the slalom races. If the skiing champion wins the races, the 27-year-old will match the iconic decades-old record of Stenmark.
