Alpine skiing queen Mikaela Shiffrin never shies away from making waves in the sporting realm. This year in March, she won her charismatic 88th World Cup giant slalom at Soldeu and stood atop the podium with her incredible feat. She made the 2022-2023 skiing season magical by extending the record to 88 wins. After winning the World Cup, she was nominated for an ESPY award, and she won that too for the best female athlete in 2023. 

Undoubtedly, the alpine queen made a huge success in the previous season. People across the globe were waiting for her new season to arrive. And guess what, it is here. The Olympian was spotted training on Mammoth Mountain for the next alpine skiing competition, which is scheduled to be held in October.

The queen of slaloms is all set to don her skiing gear once again. Last week, Shiffrin gave a hint to her fans that she is returning to alpine skiing, but she did not disclose the details, not even the location. On 31st July, Shiffrin was training on Mammoth Mountain when Jim Fitlow, a usual Facebook user recorded the video and uploaded it on his Facebook.

The new alpine season of Giant Slalom will be conducted in Solden, Austria. This 2023-2024 season will be held on 29th October with 89 various races which will be continuing till March next year. And the finale will be taking place in Saalbach Hinterglemm in the last weeks of March. There are a number of changes made this season that require extra training. Along similar lines, Shiffrin already started her preparation in one of the best alpine skiing areas in California. However, we might not see the alpine skiing champion training in Mammoth Mountain for too long because according to Powder Magazine, the area will be shutting down soon.  

The Mammoth Mountain will be closing soon

Mammoth mountain is one of the most favorable spots for skiing. This year, after being hit with recorded snow in history, Mammoth was open all summer. However, the area will be closed on 6th July, although this year, the closing date of Mammoth Mountain was extended with 274 days of skiing.

But now, the snow has begun to melt due to the increment in temperatures, so it will be closing in a few days.

After setting multiple records last season, Shiffrin has raised her fans’ hopes once again with her hint of coming back to skiing. Her return was confirmed with the training video on Mammoth Mountain. So, buckle up to enjoy this new alpine season with Mikaela that will be opening from 29th October 2023 to March 2024.
