The alpine skiing queen entered the contest with 88 World Cup victories. Staring at the final peak of a century of wins, she has now reduced the gap to just 7 wins, and will most probably achieve history next season.

As Mikaela Shiffrin went back to back in Lienz, Austria, fans lauded the 28-year-old for her brilliance. Hailing her remarkable run at the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, a fan page of Shiffrin wrote, “@Mikaeal Shiffrin showed once again that she’s the only real queen of slalom, winning the last race of 2023 with a 2.34 margin!”. The appreciation tweet came after she secured the Giant Slalom race at Lienz by a huge margin of 2.34 seconds.

As good as the heart of Shiffrin is, she was quick to respond to the heartwarming post. “🙏🥰🤙”, Shiffrin posted, retweeting the tweet. Given her legendary status, it’s truly heartwarming of the 2x Olympic Gold Medalist to respond back to love with love. With a staggering record this season, Shiffrin stands on the cusp of tying another World Cup record this season.

Shiffrin to tie another record at Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2023/24

With 5 victories this season, Mikaela Shiffrin leads the slalom and overall standings. She has racked up 900 points in the overall category while the next best is 637 by Italian skier Brignone Federica. If she is able to hold onto the lead, Shiffrin, who currently has 5 titles, will tie with Annemarie Moser-Proll for most overall women’s titles in World Cup history.

Shiffrin is also leading in the slalom charts with 430 points. The next behind her is Slovakian Petra Vlhova who has racked up 325 points. In the Giant Slalom, Shiffrin is ranked 3rd with 247 points while Brignone Federica leads with 400. Despite a downhill victory this year, Shiffrin ranks 4th in the category with 100 points. Nonetheless, a 6th overall title looks inevitable for the queen.
