Mikaela Shiffrin made the world marvel at her winning spree in 2023. It was the 9th leg of the Audi FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup 2023/24, and the most decorated skier lady stands with her obvious win. Three months into the tour, and the slopes had already spectated extreme highs and lows. But with this win of Shiffrin, she reached her 92nd World Cup win. But her closest one has faced a competitive setback recently.
Aleksander Kilde, the alpine skier boyfriend of the 28-year-old Olympian, had hoped to walk hand-in-hand with his beau. But, even though he has tasted success more than once on the World Cup slopes this time, his Bormio Downhill run landed him a DNF. Despite his ski hitting a rock, following moments of despair, Kilde pulled himself back up to celebrate.

Much to their fans’ delight, the athletic duo gives sneak peeks of their private life oftentimes. Kilde and Shiffrin have backed one another since 2015, and they’re going strong still. Now, when the former posted an Instagram story of his girlfriend’s winning moment, their efforts in the relationship have come to fruition again. In fact, the caption “Aaaand find you a girl who makes up your day” asserts that Kilde is nothing but elated with Shiffrin’s commendable prowess.
It’s just a matter of 8 World Cup wins for the 2x Olympic gold medalist. After which, she can dance to the rhythm of her 100th victory beats. When the Schlossberg slope of Lienz opened its gates, Swedish Olympian Sara Hector got subdued by Shiffrin, losing 0.63-seconds in the 1st run. In the 2nd run, it was Frederica Brignone looking in the eye of Mikaela Shiffrin. But the latter smoothly bested her competitor by 0.38 seconds, securing a combined 2:05.98.
But Aleksander Kilde’s chance of making it to the men’s Downhill podium slipped by a fraction, following a DNF.

Aleksander Kilde’s unpleasant outcome
The usual reason for a sloppy setback is the terrain being ‘icy’. Something similar happened to Kilde in Italy at the Downhill event. After a snow-disguised rock hit his ski, his race and the instrument both got damaged. To share his feelings, he spoke to the media after the completion.

He said, “The inside of the left ski had quite some rips in it. Then it’s impossible to ski Bormio because it’s so icy. Every time I went on the edge, it slid away“. Kilde, who finished with a bronze podium in the same discipline last year, has a year-long wait again. The 31-year-old Norwegian skier always has his focus on Downhill and Super-G. But the recent loss didn’t stop him from encouraging Mikaela Shiffrin to march towards her 100th World Cup win.
