The wait is almost over! After six years of retirement, Lindsey Vonn has grown tired of her quaint life and is on her way to returning to her natural habitat. Naturally, a few hiccups need to be managed along the way. Among them, it seems like the 82-time Ski World Cup winner’s smallest family member requires some special attention to adjust to Vonn’s sudden change in daily routine for the 2024/25 FIS Ski World Cup. Thankfully, a helping hand isn’t too far away.
On December 14, next Saturday, Lindsey will be seen as a forerunner at the iconic Birds of Prey racecourse in Beaver Creek. The downhill slope isn’t new for the seasoned alpine skier, and fans can’t wait to see her in action once again. To make the intimidating task somewhat easier, it looks like Vonn’s opponents are also chipping in to help out in any way possible.
Lindsey Vonn is a name that evokes reverence among even the biggest stars in the skiing community. With her list of accolades going on and on, it’s only natural that Vonn’s popularity transcends barriers and even her foes cannot help but marvel at Lindsey’s stupendous career. And now, as the 40-year-old’s comeback is around the corner, Vonn took to Instagram to reveal how Italian skiing star Sofia Goggia has been helping out behind the scenes.

Helping to take care of Lucy, Lindsey Vonn’s beloved pet, Goggia is helping her colleague get more training time for the anticipated moment later this month at St. Moritz, Switzerland. The Italian shared the brief snippet of the cute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on her Instagram, which Vonn gushingly reposted. Captioned, “She’s Italian so you know she loves you,” Lindsey’s post extended gratitude to her comrade for her kind gesture. But it’s not like the 32-year-old had any qualms about the responsibility either. “Dog Sitter of @lindseyvonn’s Lucy before downhill sesh,” Goggia wrote on her original IG update, underscoring how this was a nice break from the hectic 2024/25 FIS Ski World Cup schedule.
With how excited Vonn seems for her return to the skiing slopes, she undoubtedly would be relieved to have someone keeping Lucy company. “I am having a lot of fun and want to keep on doing so,” she wrote on Instagram, noting how incredible her comeback journey has been so far. Along with that Lindsey also extended her thanks to all the people who have supported her along the way. However, while the smiles keep on coming, the daunting task ahead certainly isn’t to be taken lightly.

Lindsey Vonn won’t let mere setbacks keep her down
Vonn’s knee replacement surgery earlier this year has many fans skeptical about her chances to win another World Cup race. Many experts of the sport have opined that racing at 40 years and with artificial joints isn’t a good sign and that Von should keep her expectations low. However, the seasoned skier isn’t one to give in to speculations and is rather fixated on letting her work do the talking.
Last month, she went on to Instagram to share snippets of herself blitzing down a slope with the caption, “I can feel it coming,” highlighting how she’s itching to feel the thrill once again. Felling inspired after a conversation with tennis legend Roger Federer, Lindsey Vonn is determined to rewrite the tenets of what it means to be an alpine skier.
