At the FIS Forum Alpinum in Soelden on October 27, Mikaela Shiffrin received the “Skieur d’Or AIJS” trophy from the members of AIJS wishing her a successful next season. Mikaela posted a heartfelt message and a picture of herself accepting the trophy on Twitter (X). She captioned it, “Honored and humbled to once again receive the ?Skieur d?Or AIJS ? Serge Lang Trophy”…and it was such a nice surprise to have one of my biggest idols, @MillerBode, present it to me in S?lden. Thanks so much for the recognition!

Every winter, the most competent alpine skier from the previous season is named the “AIJS Skieur d’Or,” a title chosen through a vote held by AIJS journalists. The selection procedure includes crucial factors such as World Cup, Olympic, and World Championship victories. The winner’s exceptional athletic ability and overall contributions to the sport of skiing are recognized by this esteemed award. Shiffrin now stands with such luminaries as Lindsey Vonn, Phil Mahre, and Bode Miller.

What’s this season holding for her? Although her victory record is impressive, she would tie the record for the most important yearly trophy in Alpine skiing?the coveted crystal globe?if she were to win her sixth overall, Shiffrin would surpass Austrian Annemarie Moser-Pr?ll. The Colorado native, 28, is honored as the “Skier of the Season” for the third time now. Previously winning it in 2017 and 2019. After rekindling hopes with a recent update, the backing of her compatriot for her season showed the depth of her fanbase.
