Alpine Skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin has pretty much done it all. Earlier this year, she won her 88th world cup victory and set a new world record. If this wasn’t enough, she even broke her tie with Vreni Schneider for most all-time on the women’s World Cup after she won her 21st GS. She followed this up by surpassing the legendary Lindsey Vonn when she secured her 138th World Cup podium.
Since she has won everything and set new records, there isn’t much left for her to conquer. However, her recent social media post suggested otherwise and maybe she does have something after all that is still to be checked off her bucket list.

Despite conquering the slopes, Shiffrin’s Instagram story suggests she wants more of something. Taking to her Instagram, the skier shared a reel of a popular sitcom that has captivated audiences for years. Uploading a clip of the popular comedy show Seinfeld, Shiffrin wrote, “I need to watch more Seinfeld.” The iconic scene that Shiffrin shared depicts Jerry Seinfeld, the lead character, engaged in a funny exchange with a car rental executive. Upon finding that his already reserved car is not available anymore, the character goes on a funny rant at the executive.
This Instagram story gives the audience a small glimpse into Shiffrin’s personal interests. Known for her impeccable skills on the slopes and an incredible list of accolades, including numerous World Cup victories, Olympic medals, and World Championship titles, Shiffrin’s candid moment with the Seinfeld reel shows a different side to the athlete. It’s a moment of relatability that reminds fans that even the greatest athletes have their off-the-slope passions and interests. Although she may be looking to binge-watch Seinfeld, it may have to wait as the Alpine skier is still not giving in to rest days.

The Alpine skier recently skied on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain in California. Shiffrin herself was surprised and bewildered that she could be skiing in California in late July and early August. Since the mountain experienced more snowfall this year as compared to before, people flocked to California to experience skiing in summer. It is through sessions like these that Shiffrin maintains her training regime. She will next be seen in October as she aims to conquer her traditional slalom in Soelden.
